How people in organizations collaborate together directly impacts how effectively they live out their mission in the world. And strong collaboration sometimes feels easier said than done, even in mission-driven organizations with deep values around collaboration.

Live Your Mission Consulting designs bespoke offerings tailored to the needs of each organization to help team members work together more effectively for mission. These are offered both in-person and virtually. Team retreats can include time for prayer and reflection or take a more “workshop” style, depending on the culture of your organization and needs of the group.

Examples of team retreat offerings include:

Team planning sessions to help a group of people working together articulate and prioritize the key activities to help you live your mission together over the course of the next year.

This can include team formation exercises to:

  • Articulate the team’s purpose, its connection to the organization’s overall mission, and  team member’s specific roles and responsibilities within the team
  • Name and explore key elements of collaborative work, such as preferred communications styles, how team members approach conflict, and what conditions help them do their best work.
    • These sessions can include use of the Everything DiSC® model, a personality-based tool that helps individuals understand their behavioral styles by identifying preferences across four key dimensions: Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Conscientiousness (Live Your Mission founder and principal Genevieve Jordan Laskey is a certified DiSC facilitator)
  • Develop or reflect on shared values that guide the team in daily interactions like communication and decision-making
  • Help surface barriers preventing effective teamwork and identify potential strategies to deepen collaboration

Team formation retreats often include working closely with the team leader to design the retreat and to assist them in understanding the stages of team formation and what they can do to help create effective teams. Teams do not need to be newly formed to take part in team formation strengthening sessions.

These sessions are designed to help leaders and teams make the most of moments of organizational change by naming and moving through transitions intentionally.

Navigating transition retreats are especially helpful when teams and organizations face changes that connect to deeply held beliefs, values and identity. Navigating transition sessions may include designing processes for organizations to name and grieve an ending and embrace a beginning. Sessions can integrate ritual and spirituality as desired.

Retreats designed specifically for leadership teams that are tailored to meet their articulated outcomes, and can also include planning and relationship building
